Grandma Stueber’s Anise Candy
Ingredients
1 cup white Karo syrup
2 cups sugar
Pinch of salt
4 T water
1/2 teaspoon Anise Oil
Red or green food coloring
Powdered sugar
Directions
- Combine first 4 ingredients.
- Cook to hard brittle stage (300 degrees) stirring constantly.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon Anise Oil and red or green food coloring.
- Pour onto buttered metal pan.
- Let cool.
- Dust with powdered sugar.
- Break into pieces.
This was one of the recipes that my Great Grandma used to make. She would make it every Christmas/Thanksgiving for our family.
