Recipe of the Week #3

Grandma Stueber’s Anise Candy

1 cup white Karo syrup
2 cups sugar
Pinch of salt
4 T water
1/2 teaspoon Anise Oil
Red or green food coloring
Powdered sugar
  1. Combine first 4 ingredients.
  2. Cook to hard brittle stage (300 degrees) stirring constantly.
  3. Add 1/2 teaspoon Anise Oil and red or green food coloring.
  4. Pour onto buttered metal pan.
  5. Let cool.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar.
  7. Break into pieces.

    This was one of the recipes that my Great Grandma used to make. She would make it every Christmas/Thanksgiving for our family.
